The largest city in the Bay Area, San Jose anchors the South Bay and Silicon Valley. Whereas San Francisco and Oakland were limited by geography, San Jose has been able to sprawl, making it one massive municipality. Fueled by Silicon Valley's boom, rent has also become massive. The cost of living in San Jose is one of the highest in the country. But you'll be neighbors with the likes of PayPal, Adobe, and Cisco Systems.
The Alameda winds its way down from neighboring Santa Clara, through the heart of San Jose. 280 and 101 also meet in East San Jose, before 280 turns to 680 and heads north towards Milpitas and the East Bay. San Jose is served by Caltrain and Amtrak at College Park Station, San Jose Diridon Station, Tamien Station, Capitol Station, Blossom Hill Station, before heading further south into Morgan Hill, Gilroy and Salinas. San Jose is also conveniently home to Mineta San Jose Airport (SJC) for both domestic and international flights.
