No doubt Oakland is booming. If you don't believe it, just check out Lake Merritt on a Saturday morning. You'll see people jogging, walking their dogs, playing frisbee or picnicking around the newly revived 3 mile long footpath around this tidal lagoon. The streets of Lakeshore Ave are buzzing with happy hipsters making their way to morning brunch, grabbing pastries at Arizmendi Bakery or picking up local produce at the weekly farmers markets. The Temescal neighborhood has probably seen the most change in Oakland with the addition of trendy restaurants and bars. Wait in line for a fried chicken sandwich at Bakesale Betty or check out Doughnut Dolly in the hidden Temescal Alleys. Down the block you can grab a drink and watch your favorite Oakland sports team at the historic King Fish Bar. Another Oakland neighborhood experiencing change, Jack London Square is situated along the Bay. It has beautiful views and plenty of restaurants and bars. It is home to the famous jazz club and sushi restaurant - Yoshi's. Uptown Oakland is where the nightlife booms. Located near 19th Street BART stop, San Franciscans can catch a show at the Fox Theatre or sip on greyhounds at Cafe Van Kleef.
