Workers League Responsibilities

To ensure that facilities and services provided by The Workers League give due regard to current Social distancing measures advised by Government Public Health bodies, we will:

appoint a person within the The Workers League who will be responsible for identifying and keeping up-to-date with current Social distancing measures and advice;

Maintain social distancing wherever possible, including when arriving and leaving work, while in work and when travelling between sites.

Apply Social distancing measures to all locations, wherever possible including entrances and exits, break-out areas, kitchens and similar areas.

Take all mitigating actions possible to reduce the risk of transmission between employees. members and other persons where Social distancing guidelines cannot achieved. A combination of mitigating actions may include:

Increasing the frequency of hand washing and surface cleaning.

Keeping the activity time involved as short as possible.

Using screens or barriers to provide Social separation between people.

Using back-to-back or side-to-side working (rather than face ­to-face) whenever possible.

Provision and use of face coverings

Ensure that credible and reliable sources of information are identified and these resources are used to establish the The Workers League’s safe working procedures;

Ensure that relevant risk assessments are reviewed to take account of Social distancing measures and advice required to be taken by Government Public Health bodies

Ensure that  relevant risk assessments take account of persons not in our employment but who could be affected by risks to their health and safety, arising out of, or in connection with our work activities;

Provide such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure all employees and others understand the measures to be taken to protect themselves, their colleagues and any other person who may be affected by our work activities;

Provide guidance to members.

Ensure that adequate resources are made available to fulfil the requirements of this policy; and

Review this policy at least annually or more frequently if significant changes occur.

 

This list of measures is not definitive and The Workers Leagues will take any other steps deemed necessary in the circumstances.

 

Employee/Member Responsibilities

 

You will be expected to adhere to any guidance and instructions issued to you by the Workers League and/or club member employers.  These may include:

asking you to be flexible, to a reasonable extent, in terms of your working hours,

advising employees/members to avoid face-to-face meetings and to use teleconferencing, videoconferencing and the internet instead, where possible;

advising employees to avoid crowded places or heavily populated gatherings (e.g. sporting events);

advising employees/members to avoid congregating at break times, including in work-provided [restaurants/cafeteria]; and

avoiding travelling at busy periods on public transport (e.g. staggered starting times).

 

Procedure

To fulfil our responsibilities as outlined above, we will:

appoint a person within The Workers League who will be responsible for keeping up-to-date with current Government Social distancing advice and guidance

prepare a list of credible and reliable sources of information and use these resources to review and revise risk assessments and establish safe working procedures;

identify all operations and activities undertaken by our employees or members that could be affected;

regularly review all relevant risk assessments where necessary, taking into account:-

measures and advice required to be taken by the identified credible and reliable sources;

vulnerable employees/members;

Club member safety;

establish effective means of communication with employees and others who could be affected;

inform, instruct, train and supervise all employees/members in the measures to be taken to protect themselves, other members and any other person who may be affected by our work activities; and

provide adequate resources to fulfil the requirements of this policy.

 

To maintain social distancing upon arrival and departure; where necessary, The Workers League will consider the application of the following measures;

Staggering arrival and departure times at work to reduce crowding into and out of the workplace, taking account of the impact on those with protected characteristics.

Providing additional parking or facilities such as bike-racks to help people walk, run, or cycle to work where possible.

Limiting passengers in corporate vehicles, for example, work minibuses, including leaving seats empty.

Reducing congestion at work, for example, by having more entry and exit points to and from the workplace.

Using markings and introducing one-way flow at entry and exit points.

Providing handwashing facilities, or hand sanitiser stations, at entry and exit points.

Providing alternatives to touch-based security devices and defining alternative methods such as showing security passes at a safe distance.

 

To maintain social distancing between people who work in one place or at their workstation; where necessary, The Workers League will consider the application of the following measures;

reviewing and changing layouts/setups/processes to allow people to maintain  Social distancing

Using floor tape or paint to mark areas to help workers keep to a distance.

where it is not possible to move workstations further apart;

Arranging people to work side by side or facing away from each other rather than face-to-face.

Using screens to separate people from each other.

Using a consistent pairing system where people have to work in close proximity,

 

To maintain social distancing in meetings; where necessary, The Workers League will consider the application of the following measures;

Using remote working tools to avoid in-person meetings.

Only absolutely necessary participants should attend meetings and should maintain separation throughout.

Avoiding transmission during meetings, for example, avoid sharing pens and or other objects.

Providing hand sanitiser in meeting rooms.

Holding meetings outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms whenever possible.

Reduce maximum numbers in meeting rooms.

 

 

 

 

To maintain social distancing while using common areas; where necessary, The Workers League will consider the application of the following measures;

Staggering break times to reduce pressure on break rooms or places to eat.

Using safe outdoor areas for breaks – including roof terrace at The Sandwich.

Using protective screens to create a Social barrier between people.

Reconfiguring seating and tables to maintain spacing and reduce face-to-face interactions.

Provision of Social distance marking for other common areas such as toilets, showers, lockers and changing rooms and in any other areas where queues typically form.

To maintain social distancing when moving through the workplace; where necessary, The Workers League will consider the application of the following measures;

Expanding areas designated as ‘places/areas of safety’ to allow for Social distancing.

implementing one-way systems where possible on walkways around the workplace

Reducing maximum occupancy for lifts, providing hand sanitiser for the operation of lifts, and encouraging use of stairs wherever possible.

Making sure that people with disabilities are able to access lifts.

Using signage such as floor markings or other objects to highlight one-way movement and Social distancing requirements throughout the workplace.
