The location was great--easy to get to and park. The place, itself, is a little run-down, but the bigger issue is that there's no reception of any kind. We had a day pass for a meeting room and had never been to a Port property before, so we had no idea how to find our room, where to go, rules, how to get back in when we leave for lunch, etc. Speaking of which, I was told by the comm-manager "just text me" when I asked how to get back in the building after lunch: I did, then called, got no answer and walked in behind someone else who had a card key. 15min after we were back in our conference room, he texted me back and said he'd "be right down" to let us in. Uh-huh. A great remedy would be to have some sort of designated reception upon entrance to handle all these standard issues/questions.

Big, clean meeting room with good wifi, a big samsung screen, one whiteboard. Kitchen and bathrooms clean and well-stocked. Onsite ops manager, Brennan, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. AND the SLIDE! So. much. fun. If I was creating a wishlist, I would like a second white board.

The conference room was EXTREMELY hot and stuffy. The small circulating fan was not sufficient. My guests were very uncomfortable. Additionally, my meeting did not appear on the electronic board at the door. Someone was using the conference room at 6pm and I politely asked them to leave - had to show them my reservation on LiquidSpace (because it wasn't visible on the board).

Following recommendations from the state of California, Alameda County, the WHO and the Center for Disease Control, we are asking our Port members and their guests to help us to prevent the spread of disease and limit the impact it can have on our community in all our locations. Thanks for reading this and for supporting our efforts!

Hygiene

The important guidelines about hygiene are as follows: Masks are required in public spaces at all times. Wash your hands frequently and properly. A guide can be found here: www.who.int/gpsc/clean_hands_protection

 

Use your mask, your arm or sleeve when coughing or sneezing, not your hands, and use hand sanitizer regularly. Wash your hands. (It’s a theme.)

 

If you experience the symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.

 

Please dispose of tissues immediately and wash hands or use sanitizer any time you have used tissues. (There’s that hand-washing again!)

Refrain from touching your nose or mouth. If you do, please wash your hands afterwards. (In case you forgot.)

 

We are making extra effort in all locations to clean shared surfaces regularly with disinfectant. We will also provide hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial wipes. We ask members to please consider using these after meetings on surfaces that have been touched. It is also helpful if you have your own personal supply of sanitizer.

If You Are Sick

For the safety of our coworkers and community, we are asking members who are displaying even mild flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough and cold to stay home. Please! Not only is this common courtesy, it will help you recover more quickly and keep your immune system strong. While the chances of community infection of COVID-19 are very low, it is still cold and flu season, and staying home is the most important way to protect others from getting sick.

If You Have Traveled

 

If you have recently traveled or may have been exposed to people traveling from affected areas, please monitor yourself. If you are showing any symptoms of illness we ask you to check with your healthcare provider. Please do not plan to return to work until you’ve been cleared and are no longer sick.

Guests

For the security and protection of our members and staff, all guests at The Port should also confirm they are not symptomatic or unwell. We ask for members to help us enforce this.

We are closely following the recommendations by the state of California, Alameda County, the WHO and CDC and will provide updates as needed. In the meantime, thank you for helping continue to keep our welcoming community healthy and safe!
