For proximity to the heart of Toronto's business district the Yonge and Richmond centre is hard to beat. The 20-story modernist tower is connected to the city's financial hub by the PATH pedestrian underground walkway system, which also gives access to two subway stations. The building, located on the eastern edge of the financial area, makes an impressive visual statement against the skyline, set apart by its peaked roof and its red polish and flamed granite finish. Workspace on the centre's 11th floor looks out over the city through mullioned windows and the lobby is covered with varieties of marble. The financial district is home to national and global banks and insurance companies, as well as corporate headquarters, advertising and marketing consultancies and legal firms. Many countries' consulates and trade offices are also in the neighbourhood. The centre is accessible for commuter rail and bus services to the suburbs.
