ELL | San Francisco
670 Commercial Street, San Francisco, CA 94111
ELL is a flex-use platform for the exhibition of art, architecture, and design. As a collective formed from local artists, designers, performers, fabricators, and architects, we began with a simple mission: to emphasize the common thread found within cross-disciplinary collaboration, to foster discussion and the sharing of ideas, and to promote rigorous and thoughtful work. Having seen a lot of potential in the neighborhood surrounding Commercial Street, we moved into our space on this small pedestrian alley in 2016 next to our partners, Chapel Hill Coffee. Located just one block from Transamerica Pyramid, we're the nexus of three vibrant neighborhoods - Jackson Square, Chinatown, and Financial District - each with its own unique character and motivation. It is this symbiosis that inspires and drives our curatorial effort. ELL serves a wide spectrum of program, from art exhibitions, pop-ups or panel discussions to an intimate space for private events or gathering. We have designed a flex-use space where local businesses can conference, while demonstrating to their teams that design matters. In return, we can give artists the freedom to test the limits of group exhibition.
